Firstly, thank you for visiting my blog, Our Backyard Farm. My name is Kate Williams and this blog is my little corner of the internet where I share tips and resources about backyard farming. Growing up in a small town in Iowa, I was surrounded with farms. My dad has a small farm of his own and I love being out there helping him. In fact, that’s where I learnt a lot of my farming/gardening knowledge from.
Now, with a family of my own, living in a big city like Philly, I need some greenery space in my live. Luckily, my husband (Ben) and I are fortunate enough to own a house with a big yard. Enough for me to do my vegetable farming and some herbs gardening. So my backyard farm is my meditation space where I rolled down my sleeves on weekends and just let my green fingers do the tricks. And during my free time, I share everything about farming here on my blog. =)
Who Is Kate Williams – The Non-Gardener?
If I am not busy gardening, I will have my hands full with 2 awesome kids, Sarah (4) and Kyle (2). I used to be a senior illustrator for a design firm but left the job when Kyle was born. Nowadays, the only illustrations that I got to do is drawings of hippos and giraffes with the 2 monsters.
I cook. Barely but good enough for my little family. I’ve been cooking more frequently now and happy to be able to get fresh produce from my own backyard garden.
And during their nap time, I turn into an awesome Candy Crusher; completing levels after levels without much fuss. Currently in level 4865!!!
About Our Backyard Farm
Our Backyard Farm or OBF is my personal blog where I share tips and resources about farming and gardening. I curates and shares DIY farming resources and guide that are easy to be implemented. OBF hopes to turn anyone with backyard into farmers.
Didn’t intend to start my own blog as I am not very techy and did not have a clue of creating a website. But was persuaded by Ben who offered to help with all the technical stuff (He is in the IT sector) and all I have to do is focus on blogging and taking pretty photos.
So here you go, OBF, a backyard farming resource for everyone who wants to learn more about farming and gardening. Especially in an urban city setting.
