Perennial Herbs Garden – What To Plant In Your Garden?

Among the most popular herbs all over the world are perennial herbs. Most gardeners have these herbs in their garden because of its edible flowers and medicinal qualities. They are easy to grow and do not require so much maintenance. You can grow them in a container if you do not have a lot of space. The following herbs are among the most common in a perennial herbs garden.

Mint

Mint or Mentha has a purple like a flower in a small spike that exudes a super fresh smell. Many people like the strong flavor that Mint has because it complements with peas, chocolate, peas, fish, and vegetables. The fresh leaves are good for making a refreshing tea.

You can also cut the stalks of Mint and hang to dry so that you can use it in the future. You can plant Mint in an area with full sunshine. It needs pruning, so it is better to harvest the leaves frequently. Use mulch in your garden to keep the herb healthy. It does not need much space so you can consider it for your sustainable backyard farm.

Thyme

Thyme or Thymus Vulgaris is a small herb with aromatic smell and flavor. You can grow this herb without putting so much care or much effort. It grows anywhere for years, and you can quickly propagate it.

I use Thyme when I cook meats, stews, soups and sauces, stuffing, and bread. Thyme has an attractive flower, and it can grow in your perennial herbs garden whether you plant it in an area with full or part sunshine.

Greek Oregano

Greek Oregano, with a scientific name of Origanum Vulgare Hirtum, has a green color all year, but it does not do well in cold weather. In Mediterranean cooking, Oregano is used because of its sage-like taste.

This herb is also great for tomato dishes. If you plant this herb, you need to prune it frequently. Trimming the Oregano is an excellent way to care for this perennial herb. Again, this plant needs full sunshine.

Winter Savory

The scientific name of Winter Savory is Satureja montana. It is a bushy hardy herb that has a peppery flavor that you can use as a flavoring ingredient for teas, herb vinegar, herb butter, and other types of dishes. Winter Savory does well in dry soil because it is its habitat.

As this herb ages, its leaves become sparser, so you need to cut it and plant another after three years. Winter Savory has excellent medicinal qualities, and like other perennial herbs, it also requires full sunshine.

Rosemary

Rosemary or Rosmarinus officinalis can grow to a beautiful shrub. It has a pine and needle-like leaf. It also produces a tiny blue flower. Bees love this herb, so you will notice that bees will come to your garden because they get attracted to this herb.

You can also use this perennial plant as an ornament. I like the pungent aroma that this herb releases when you cut its leaf. Sometimes a few sprigs from this herb are being used for bathe because it gives a refreshing soak, especially if you have a tired muscle after work.

To prevent this herb from being lanky, you have to prune it regularly. After this perennial herb produces a flower, trim it. If you will plant this herb, choose an area with full sun.

Try planting perennial herbs in your garden, it will add benefits to your relaxation, medication, and food.
